Owner Sourav Ganguly has hinted that Orlando City SC midfielder Kaká could play for Atlético de Kolkata in the 2015 Indian Super League (ISL).

The 32 year-old made his debut with new Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise Orlando in March and has so far contributed two goals in four appearances.

That return makes him the Lions’ top scorer and his immediate impact in the United States has seemingly drawn interest from India.

Speaking at the felicitation ceremony of Jagmohan Dalmiya organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal, Ganguly confirmed that there has been talks regarding Kaká possibly playing in the IPL, though concedes no deal has been agreed as yet.

“About Kaká… talks are going on, but nothing have been finalised yet. When it is finalised we will surely disclose the news,” he said, as reported by website NDTV Sports.

Any move to take Kaká to Atlético would only be temporary, but the logistics could prove problematic.

The 2014 ISL ran from 12th October until 20th December. Were that to be the case once more this year, then Kaká would be forced to miss the latter stages of Orlando’s inaugural MLS campaign.

Given his status as a Designated Player and value to the team, it seems unlikely that would be sanctioned.
