Brazilian legend Kaka scored on his debut for Sao Paulo but he could not prevent his new side from defeat against Goias in the Brasileirao last night as the lost 2-1.

The former World Player of the Year, on loan from MLS outfit Orlando City, slotted home from close range after 76 minutes following a goalkeeping error but Tricolor were already two goals down and could not stage a comeback in what was their second consecutive league loss.

Goias sealed the three points thanks to goals from Amaral and Bruno Mineiro either side of half time.

Kaka, 32, said after the match: “I just arrived, I helped in some way, but there is a lot to improve.”

Sao Paulo are under pressure to deliver silverware this season simply because of the vast array of attacking options at the disposal of head coach Muricy Ramalho; for last night’s loss he went with Kaka and Paulo Henrique Ganso behind Alan Kardec and youngster Ademilson.

With Alexandre Pato coming off the bench and Luis Fabiano waiting in the wings, Sao Paulo will be expected to close the nine point gap on league leaders Cruzeiro and rapidly.
