Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has allegedly turned down the chance to succeed Luiz Felipe Scolari as head coach of Brazil, according to various media reports.
The Chilean, 60, was the target of the Brazilian FA as stated by Chile’s El Mercurio, but he he has no intention of walking out on City justy a season into his three-year deal with the Premier League champions.
A Chilean international with 38 caps, Pellegrini would be no stranger to coaching in South America, having managed in his homeland, as well as in Ecuador with LDU Quito and with River Plate in Argentina.
Scolari stepped down earlier this week following the conclusion of the 2014 World Cup, in which the hosts scraped through to the last four before succumbing 7-1 to eventual champions Germany, a result that saw the manager’s job become untenable.
