Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff doesn’t believe Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez will be able to play the football the Catalan club have become famed for next season.

The Netherlands icon believes his former club will abandon their previous playing style now they have signed an individual player like Suárez.

Many predicted Neymar and Messi would struggle together after the Brazilian moved from Santos last season but when they did play with each other they generally linked up well.

Cruyff wrote in the De Telegraaf recently that he isn’t sure the aforementioned three can play together.

“I am happy that Germany won the World Cup. They are playing the kind of football that Barcelona are distancing themselves from,” Goal.com quoted Cruyff’s column.

“That feeling has only gotten stronger with the signing of Luis Suárez. He is a great player, but has a complicated character.

“I don’t know how they plan to play free-flowing attacking football with Messi, Neymar and Suárez in one team. They are all players who rely on their individual actions.

“Barcelona choose for individualism rather than a team playing good football. The style of play they developed under Frank Rikkaard and Pep Guardiola is being abandoned.”
