Cruzeiro attacker Everton Ribeiro is hoping to earn a place in the Brazil squad but accepts he must impress for his club side first.

Ribeiro was one of the most impressive players in Brazil during 2013 but his form failed to reward him with a international call-up and he didn’t play at the World Cup.

However, now Luiz Felipe Scolari has gone the 25-year-old believes he has a good opportunity to try and win a first Brazil cap.

He told Lancenet: “I have to keep doing a good job here at Cruzeiro and I have to be focused on playing good games and getting wins.

“I’m sure the next coach will look, because Cruzeiro is a strong team, which is good and whoever is playing right here will also get there chance.”

After his excellent 2013, Ribeiro can certainly count himself unlucky not to have been given an opportunity for Brazil already.

If he can pick up his form once the Brazilian season starts up again then he will hope to do enough to earn a place in the international squad for the friendly against Colombia.
