Benfica remain confident that they can complete the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, according to reports in the Spanish press.

The young Brazilian is searching for first team football in the coming season and believes a loan deal away from the Bernabeu would improve his chances of success in the long term with the club from Spain’s capital.

And Portuguese champions Benfica appear to be leading the chase for his signature, with Marca suggesting that were Casemiro to leave, there would be a buy-back option inserted into any deal as they rate the player highly.

Casemiro only joined Real last year, making a permanent switch from Sao Paulo for €6 million. He was part of the squad that won the Champions League for the tenth time in May, and also won the Copa del Rey last term.

The 22 year-old incredibly made his debut for Brazil in 2011 at the age of 19 after only a season with Tricolor in the Brazilian top flight, but has thus far failed to make his presence in the national team a permanent one.
