Brazil striker Fred, so often the fall guy for his country’s poor performances during the 2014 World Cup, has expressed his disappointment at the 7-1 crushing they received at the hands of Germany in Belo Horizonte last night.

The Fluminense forward, who has only managed one goal in the tournament to date, told reporters after the game: “Feeling total disappointment, because it’s certainly the worst defeat of everyone’s career here.”

“We made the game worse and Germany played the game of their lives.”

“I’m bothered about how this defeat happened. It’s a moment of disappointment, a scar that will forever live with all our lives, but we’ll have to seek a higher power to get through this difficulty.”

Brazil now go on to play either Argentina or Holland in Brasilia for the right to grab third place in the competition; the game takes place on Saturday evening.
