David Luiz has established himself as a firm fan favourite over the last few years and especially following his dominant performances in the successful 2013 Confederations Cup campaign.
After yesterdays 4-0 friendly win over Panama, the Brazil defender spent some time signing autographs and taking pictures with the Seleção supporters.
When he spoke to SporTV, he revealed why the fans are so important to him.
The soon-to-be Paris Saint-Germain defender joked: “People are already sick of seeing the hair.
“I was very happy, very happy. It was always what I dreamed for my life and what I wanted.
“You know how important it is for me to touch the hearts of people. Today was a special moment in my career, in my life. I can be sure that I will always do everything to return that affection.”
Luiz will attempt to replicate his performance in the Confederations Cup and will hope to deliver Brazil fans a World Cup win.
