Former Brazil international Leonardo is confident Filippo Inzaghi can be a success, if he is appointed as Milan Head Coach.

The 40 year-old, who is currently the Head Coach of the Rossoneri’s Primavera side, is widely expected to replace Clarence Seedorf in the coming days.

Leonardo – a former Milan Head Coach himself – believes Inzaghi’s passion and familiarity with the club will stand him in good stead to get Milan back on track and fighting at the top of Serie A.

“For Inzaghi his story is similar to mine,” said the 44 year-old, as reported by Football Italia. “He has great emotion and he is in love with football. He can give great enthusiasm.

“It must be an important moment for him. I experienced a very similar moment and I think there must be a lot of thoughts going through his head.

“Lots of things have happened and I think it’s difficult to explain it from the outside looking in. It has all happened very quickly and I think that is normal, considering how football is now.

“I hope that Milan get back on the right track with Inzaghi, someone who will bring in positive things.

“Pippo will do well because he has enthusiasm and he manages to put it across.

“Now he needs to give everything he has, but he also has a lot to learn. He needs to study a lot of things and put his experience into practice.

“He knows the environment well.”
