Luiz Felipe Scolari has hit out at the Portuguese authorities for going public with the charges against him.

He said: “If it is a confidential inquiry, why has it been made public? Because it’s something malicious.”

The Brazil coach told Epoca that he will not let the situation have an impact on his World Cup preparations.

“I continue to do what I have to do – take care of the national team, be happy with the group I work with.

“I’m going to welcome players, hug them, work with joy. And if later I have to take a different attitude, I’ll do it. For now, that’s my goal.”

Scolari is accused of tax evasion and money laundering during his time as coach of the Portugal national team. He denies the charges against him.
