Flamengo striker Hernane is on the comeback trail and it coudn’t come at a better time for his struggling side as they battle a tricky start to the 2014 Brasileirao campaign after getting knocked out of the Copa Libertadores at the group stages for only the second time ever.
The 26 year-old, who had shown sparking form last season, has been out of contention for seven weeks by virtue of a slight spine fracture but is ready to return against Sao Paulo tomorrow at the Maracana.
Hernane told reporters ahead of the game: “I appreciate the opportunity and will do my best to come back.”
“I have to start from scratch, I knew this year would be more difficult, but I will try to do better.”
Flamengo currently sit in 16th place in the league table after only picking up one win in their opening four games of the season.
