David Luiz has admitted it will be a disappointing season for Chelsea if they do not win a trophy.
The Blues were beaten in their Champions League semi-final by Atlético Madrid on Wednesday and only have an outside chance of winning the Premier League title.
Luiz believes a club of Chelsea’s magnitude should not be satisfied if they end the campaign without a trophy, though praised his team-mates for showing personality throughout the season.
“It could be that we are heading for a shit season,” he said, as reported by The Guardian. “We are a big club and we want to win trophies. The most important thing for me is the personalities. We need to fight in many situations. But everyone speaks about results and you can say it is a shit season if you don’t have trophies in a season at a big club.
“In the end you need to remember that everyone here is human. Everyone gave their best all season and everyone can make mistakes – that is normal. But you cannot hide yourself from any situation. We will keep fighting in the league but we cannot win it automatically. It will be difficult.”
