Grêmio’s on loan forward Dudu has admitted it is important that the club remain grounded despite their encouraging start to 2014.

The Dynamo Kyiv forward scored on Wednesday night during Grêmio’s 2-0 win over Atlético Nacional in the Copa Libertadores, which secured the Brazil sides passage to the knock-out stage.

However, the 22-year-old was quick to warn his current team that they need to remain focused ahead of their next Libertadores match, at home to Uruguayan team Nacional.

Dudu was quoted by Lancenet, he said: “In these times when we are going well, going through a good phase, we have to keep our feet on the ground.

“Nacional will not be easy in Porto Alegre so we have to take it seriously.

“One day you’re up there but you never know if they’ll be down times shortly.”

The Brazilian went on to pay tribute to his father before revealing his delight at scoring on Wednesday.

He added: “I always listen to the advice my father gives me. We always talk the day before a game.

“It was the same at Cruzeiro and Coritiba but when I was in Ukraine it was a little more difficult.

“It is always very important to have someone who gives you love and trust. I thank God for having a father, businessmen, friend and advisor.

“We deserve this win because we fought a lot. I was happy to score, it was my first goal in the Libertadores. The important thing was to help.”
