Atletico Madrid defender Miranda has revealed that he still believes a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad is still achievable as his club side continue to stay in contention for what would be a sensational league and cup double this season.

With Atletico top of La Liga and protecting a favourable away goal from the first leg of their Champions League quarter final with Barcelona, a national call up would certainly be aided by the publicity that goes with a successful team.

Miranda told fifa.com: “This is a crucial time in terms of getting into the squad and obviously it’s good to be getting the kind of visibility we are enjoying at the moment.”

“I am thinking about a place in the team becasue I know I’m good enough and I’ve been producing the kind of form needed to get into the Selecao.”

Miranda last played for Brazil in February of last year and has amassed seven caps for his country since a debut back in 2009.
