Striker Alan Kardec is yet to commit to signing a permanent deal with Palmeiras according to reports on Lancenet. The 25 year-old is on loan from Portuguese side Benfica and is the joint top scorer in this season’s Paulista state championship with nine goals to his credit.

Kardec’s loan agreement runs out at the end of June and Palmeiras have until the last day of May to take up an option to pay €4 million for the striker, whilst the player must agree personal terms of his own.

Something of a teenage star, Kardec started off at Vasco da Gama and subsequently moved to Portugal at the age of 20, but has found the transition tricky; a return to Brazil has seen him rediscover his shooting boots and be regularly tipped as a ‘bolter’ for Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad.

Kardec has 15 under-20 caps to his name, and six goals.
