Corinthians striker Emerson Sheik could be granted his wish to leave the Sao Paulo club in the near future after it was revealed that Botafogo are interested in signing the Qatar international.

Emerson, who represented Brazil at youth level before switching allegiance to the Middle Eastern territory, has expressed a desire to change clubs after suffering a succession of injuries and Botafogo are the latest side to show an interest. According the Lancenet, Corinthians president Mario Gobbi Filho says any deal is some way off still: “Emerson is a great player and has a beautiful story here at the club.”

“He has won many titles and it is natural that many clubs want him. When a proposal comes that matches our value of the player, we will see what he wants but there is nothing concrete.”

Emerson is under contract at the club until 2015 and during his time there, he has won one national title, the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup.
