The French midfielder had to be taken off in Sunday’s match following a rather ugly challenge from the Brazilian striker.

PSG ran out comfortable 2-0 winners in the Ligue 1 encounter but it was Brandão’s rash challenge that was one of the main talking points at the final whistle.

The 33-year-old was seemingly attempting to protect the ball but in doing so planted his right forearm firmly on Cabaye’s chin, with the former Newcastle man falling to the floor in a crumpled heap.

Regardless of the seemingly aggressive nature of the challenge, the France international played down the incident.

“This is football and it happens. In big matches like that we sometimes give tough challenges and sometimes receive them. You take what comes your way and life continues,” Cabaye said.
