Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is in talks with Championship side Leeds United over a potential loan move.

The Brazilian stopper hasn’t featured for the White Hart Lane outfit since November 2011 when he couldn’t prevent them losing 2-1 to PAOK Salonik in the Europa League.

He did however link up with German team Hoffenheim last January and proved to be a big hit before unfortunately breaking his hand with a month of the season remaining.

Gomes had been given the captains armband at the Rhein-Neckar Arena to show his keeping and leadership pedigree was still intact despite finding his appearances more sporadic over the last two-and-a-half-years.

London newspaper Evening Standard revealed yesterday that Leeds were interesting in bringing the eccentric keeper to Elland Road.

The Whites manager Brian McDermott is said to be hopeful of bringing Gomes to the club before their match against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Daily Mail also backed up these claims from the Standard with a similar story this morning which also suggested that the Brazilian is looking to play first team football to help his claims of earning a spot in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup spot.

The 33-year-old has been capped 11 times by his country, the last coming before the 2010 World Cup.
