After the recent debate surrounding Neymar’s move from Santos to Barcelona last summer, goal.com.br have been reporting on the salaries of the world’s top players and appear to have the mercurial Brazilian down in 13th place in the list.

In terms of base wage, PSG’s Swedish hitman Zlatan Ibrahimovic leads the way with a total of US$47.6 million, followed immediately by Cristiano Ronaldo on $46.7 million. Neymar has several Barca colleagues in the list above him, notably Xavi and Iniesta (both $26.2 million) and unsurprisingly Lionel Messi, who earns $34.4 million.

Neymar receives ‘only’ $22.9 million but, as has been reported often recently, is subject to other monies given to his family upon his move to Catalonia.

He can’t even claim to be the highest paid Brazilian either- that distinction goes to Ibrahimovic’s teammate Thiago Silva, who appears in third place on the list with earnings of $39.4 million.
