Fluminense climbed above opponents Resende with a narrow 1-0 home win in the latest stage of the Rio de Janeiro state championships to maintain early hopes of recapturing a title they last won in 2012.

Dario Conca’s goal after 12 minutes was the difference between the teams as Flu rose up to third in the standings, behind Vasco Da Gama and Flamengo; the former have eight points and the latter ten. 

Earlier this week, Fluminense attacker Rafael Sobis spoke to goal.com about how his team are more confident than they were at the same stage last term: “Our group is very strong, we have more confidnce than last year. The level of the team is improving.”
