Porto midfielder Fernando is pushing for a move to Internazionale, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The 26 year-old is out of contract in the summer. Now in his sixth season with the Dragões, Fernando is believed to want a new challenge.

Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur are said to be keen, but the Alto Paraíso de Goiás native prefers Inter.

The Nerazzurri have long been linked with Fernando. Rumours of a switch have circulated for the past 18 months.

With the Brazilian’s contract close to expiring, Inter are in a strong position to finally secure an agreement, either for a discounted deal in January, or a free transfer in the summer.

Corriere dello Sport insists that Porto president Pinto da Costa remains hopeful of a renewal. An improved offer is expected to be made in the coming weeks.

Fernando, who is yet to be capped by Brazil, is a cornerstone of manager Paulo Fonseca’s plans.

He has started every game this season, as Porto sit top of the Liga ZON Sagres, unbeaten after seven rounds.

Should Fernando sign with Inter, he will join fellow Brazilians Jonathan and Juan Jesus, as well as Chelsea loanee Wallace.
