Coutinho believes Liverpool should do all the can to keep striker Luis Suarez at the club, describing him as “the Neymar of Anfield.“
The midfielder thinks Suarez is just as important to Liverpool as Neymar is to Brazil, reports The Sun.
The 21-year-old suggests his teammate Suarez is on par with his Brazilian counterpart.
He said: “They are both big names and both great players — so for sure you can make the comparison.
“They have different qualities as players, Neymar is more about dribbling and organising the attacks, while Suarez scores a lot of goals.
“So although you can’t compare them directly as players, Luis is on a par with him in terms of qualities, for sure.
“They are both exceptional players and that’s why it is important he stays — and obviously we all hope that he stays.
“Everyone here wants to play with top footballers and that is exactly what Luis is.”
Suarez is heavily linked to a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal after the London club made an offer exceeding £40 million yesterday which was turned down.
Couthinho hopes the club can keep hold of their talisman for next season despite this speculation.
