Thiago Alcântara has kicked off his Bayern Munich career in style by helping his side win the Telekom Cup with a 5-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.
The midfielder scored Bayern’s third goal in a 5-1 victory to give Pep Guardiola his first piece of silverware since taking over at the club.
The German champions were 2-0 up through goals from Franck Ribéry and Phillipp Lahm when Thiago got in on the act.
The €25 million signing then skillfully put the ball home with his chest on 26 minutes after a cross from Jerome Boateng.
Luuk De Jong pulled a goal back from the penalty spot before the break.
Bayern continued to dominate the game in the second half with Arjen Robben and Thomas Müller rounding up the scoring to give Thiago his first taste of glory as a Munich player.
