Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has insisted that there are not ‘two roosters’ at the club, dismissing speculation that Neymar and Lionel Messi cannot play together.
The €57 million signing of the Brazilian has led some critics, including Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff, to question whether the duo could form a partnership.
But Rosell was bullish in his response and declared that Messi would rule the roost and Neymar would support the Argentine.
“There are not two roosters in the hen-house. There is one, and he is Messi,” he told Catalan TV station 8TV.
“Now we’ve signed Neymar, a great player and a great person. There is no-one better than Messi, but Neymar comes to show he is a great player and can help Barca.”
Neymar completed his long anticipated transfer to Barcelona in June before winning the 2013 Confederations Cup with Brazil.
