England’s players seem to have enjoyed their recent trip to Brazil, and none more so than Frank Lampard, who even met a young Brazilian named after him.

Leandro Lampard, whose father is a Chelsea supporter and named his son after the England midfielder, met up with the England squad during their stay in Brazil.

Frank Lampard said he wasn’t with the squad at the time, but aims to meet the family before leaving Rio.

“I wasn’t there unfortunately, but I did hear about it,” England’s Lampard said.

“I would like to meet the father and the kid because it’s an honour. It would be an honour if someone from London did that, but for someone from Brazil to do it, what can you say to that?” he added.

Lampard was captaining England in the absence of Steven Gerrard, and he went on to talk about how the team have enjoyed staying in the centre of Rio, not far from the Copacabana beach.

“It is one of the homes of football and it will be an honour to lead the team out at the Maracanã.

“If you go out you feel the magic of Rio, the magic of Brazil. We have enjoyed every minute of it here.”
