Tottenham Hotspur have long been linked with a move for Internacional striker Leandro Damião, and the transfer looks increasingly likely to happen this summer.

It was thought that Napoli might enter the market for the Brazil international, scuppering any plans Spurs might have had to sign the striker, but the arrival of new manager Rafael Benítez at the Italian club seems to have changed things.

Benítez is thought to be considering a cut-price move for Chelsea’s Fernando Torres, whom he also signed during his time at Liverpool, leaving the door open for Spurs to make their move for Damião.

The North London club have had a partnership of sorts with Inter since 2009, and this link between the two clubs saw defensive midfielder Sandro swap Brazil for England in 2010.

The Premier League seems to be becoming a popular destination for Brazilian players, with the likes of Oscar, David Luiz, Sandro, Ramires, Rafael, and most recently Philippe Coutinho enjoying success in the English top flight.

The presence and success of these fellow countrymen could be enough to convince Damião that a move to Tottenham would be the right one.
