Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva believes fellow Brazilian Lucas Moura must learn to pass the ball quicker to avoid strong challenges.

The 20-year-old is currently out injured after he was caught from behind by Nancy midfielder Thomas Mangani on Saturday.

Although the damage is not serious, Silva has insisted that Lucas must adapt to the physicality of French football to avoid further injuries.

He told Globo Esporte: “He will continue to take hits, even in the future. He has taken a lot of hits in Brazil, like Neymar.

“French football is very strong, physically challenging. The issue of adapting is normal. It is going to take a little time.

“This is the first time he left Brazil to play in Europe. He must learn to pass the ball faster and to play more as a team. When you keep the ball, it is normal that you take more blows.”

Lucas had to be replaced by São Paulo midfielder Osvaldo in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s Brazil squad for friendlies against Italy on Russia this month.
