Brentford manager Uwe Rosler has revealed that Chelsea’s David Luiz has apologised to Jake Reeves after leaving him concussed during the Blues’ 4-0 FA Cup victory on Sunday.

Rafa Benitez’s side were ahead by four goals and in complete control with five minutes remaining when the Brazilian shoulder-barged Reeves after the ball had been played.

Luiz only picked up a yellow card for the harsh challenge but the 19-year-old midfielder had to leave the game for treatment.

Rosler confirmed that the youngster was not seriously hurt and, while admitting that he had not seen the foul clearly, praised Luiz’s “fantastic gesture” after he visited the Brentford dressing room.

He told reporters: “Jake is fine. He wanted to continue but our medical staff said it’s better not to. Safety first, but he will be OK next week. He was definitely concussed.

“I haven’t seen the Luiz challenge clearly enough to make a judgment. He came into our dressing room afterwards to speak to Jake, and I think that’s a fantastic gesture.”

Chelsea will face Middlesbrough in the fifth round on February 27, with a win setting them up for a quarter-final visit to either Manchester United or Reading.
