São Paulo midfielder Denilson is confident that he will be able to stay at the club once his loan move from Arsenal runs out in four months time.
Denilson, 24, is into his second season on loan back at his former club after losing his place in the Arsenal side due to the emergence of Jack Wilshere but is hopeful that he can extend his time in Brazil.
He said: “We are talking slowly. I have a quiet mind as I feel the confidence of São Paulo in me. I believe that we can get it right, but I prefer to focus on the matches.
“Lets leave the contract to my lawyer to resolve with São Paulo.”
Denilson came through the youth ranks at São Paulo before being sold to Arsenal in 2006 after he had impressed with his performances for the Brazil under 20 team.
However, despite a promising start, he failed to fully adapt to English football and jumped at the chance to return to his former club.
The club would like to keep the player but are still deciding whether to try for another loan deal or to buy the player outright.
“Obviously we’d like to continue with Denilson. Let’s not make it a drama. At the appropriate time, we will analyse what is best for São Paulo and the player,” said João Paulo de Jesus Lopes, São Paulo’s vice president.
