Legendary Seleção goalkeeper Claudio Taffarel has claimed that Diego Alves would be a suitable replacement for Victor Valdes at Barcelona.

The 46-year-old says his first choice would be Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer but says the Valencia goalkeeper is a good alternative.

“Manuel Neuer should be the first name on their minds, if he considers leaving Bayern, he would be perfect as a Valdes replacement,” he added.

“Valencia’s Diego Alves also has great technique. Naturally, being Brazillian, he plays better with his feet than his hands.”

Valencia are thought to be willing to put the Seleção keeper on the market and the Catalan giants have listed Alves as a possible target for the outgoing Victor Valdes.

Valdes announced his decision to leave the club earlier this season and the club, according to reports, are moving to secure a replacement.

The 27-year-old started out at Atlético Mineiro before moving to La Liga side Almeria where Spanish giants Valencia swooped for the keeper in 2011.

The Brazilian has made 49 appearances for Valencia as well as earning seven caps for Brazil, with an Olympic bronze medal to his name.
