Brazil forward Neymar has hit back at Twitter comments from English midfielder Joey Barton that he is “overrated”, insisting he does not know who the Marseille midfielder is.
Neymar, 21, endured a tough night at Wembley and, no doubt, would have been annoyed to face questions regarding the Marseille player’s tweets post-match.
The Santos man, though, claimed to be unaware of Barton—despite his global infamy among the football community.
This Neymar fella is massively overrated. Not in the same street as Messi or Ronaldo.

I wouldn’t pay the £40-50 million there asking for Neymar. Not a chance. #showpony

“I don’t know who he is,” Neymar responded. “I just have to keep doing my job for the Seleção.
“It did not go as I had expected or wanted. I would have liked to help the team more, but today was not my day. Next time.”
Barton was not content with simply questioning Neymar’s abilities, as he also questioning the decision of several Brazil players to pray on the pitch, adding:
It really annoys me when footballers start praying on the pitch. Why would a God, if he existed give a shit about the outcome of a match!

He may now be plying his trade outside of England, but the midfielder is showing no signs of letting up his claim to column inches in the English tabloids.
