The FA have announced Roy Hodgson’s 24-man squad to take on Brazil at Wembley on February 6.

There are few surprises but Manchester United’s Chris Smalling is the notable inclusion after injuries kept him out of the squad for nearly a year.

Everton’s Leon Osman also retains his place after making his debut against Sweden in November and Chelsea’s Ashely Cole is set for his 100th cap.

The friendly against Brazil is England’s first in a series of friendlies arranged to mark the FA’s 150th anniversary with games against the Republic of Ireland and Scotland scheduled later this year.

Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Stoke City), Joe Hart (Manchester City).

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham).

Midfielders: Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Manchester City), Leon Osman (Everton), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).
