Chelsea’s Ramires has backed manager Rafael Benitez as the Spaniard faces an hostile atmosphere at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues face Southampton at home and it will be the first time back at the Bridge for Benitez after losing to Swansea in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg.

But Ramires has urged fans to back the manager and believes that the ex-Liverpool boss is a great tactician.

“It’s a new style but we’re adapting well,’ said Ramires. ‘He’s an excellent manager who knows a lot about football and watches every Premier League match and knows everything about all the other teams.

“He’s great tactically and always thinks every game through which is important for us if we’re going to do well and win titles.”

Benitez was booed for leaving club favourite Frank Lampard and new signing Demba Ba on the bench for the defeat and chants for former boss Roberto Di Matteo rang out in the stadium.
