Re-elected president Giovanni Luigi has reiterated his desire to get Internacional back on track and competing in the upcoming year after securing a second term on the board.

Luigi swept to a second term after winning the elections and made a speech to Internacional fans promising to be more competitive this year.

“Internacional enters 2013 with many concerns over the difficulties that we have, especially with not playing at home.

“We will be very strong with a number of initiatives together with the fans to remedy that, as wherever we are, we make sure that is our home, our domain.

“At the end of the year, Beira-Rio will be ready for all of us to enjoy and become our stadium for many years.”

José Fortunati, mayor of Porto Alegre, attended the ceremony and praised the president for his actions.

“We want to thank the president for this fantastic partnership that helped transform Porto Alegre into one of the best cities in the country,” he said.

Luigi spoke of his desire to ensure that Internacional have a competitive team for the season, although no signings have been made yet.

“I would like to emphasize that Internacional will have a strong and competitive football team, vying for titles.

“We don’t promise to win, but we will be playing with determination.”
