Uruguay coach Óscar Tabárez has hailed Brazil’s appointment of Luiz Felipe Scolari as national team coach ahead of next year’s Confederations Cup.
La Celeste enter the tournament as Copa America winners and have been drawn with World Cup winners Spain, Tahiti and an African nation that has yet to be decided in Group B.
Brazil enter the competition as hosts ahead of the 2014 World Cup and Tabárez believes the right man is in charge for the competition.
The 65-year-old said: “Essentially, he [Scolari] brings the coaching ability he’s already proven on many occasions.
“And what’s more, he offers both wide-ranging experience and specific knowledge of the national team, which is a very unusual environment.
“It [international management] is a difficult enough job as it is, but Brazil is where I think it’s hardest."
Felipão replaced Mano Menezes as Brazil coach a month ago as the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) wanted a fresh approach ahead of two important years for the nation.
The Seleção will face European championship runners-up Italy, Olympic and Gold Cup champions Mexico and Asian champions Japan in Group C of the tournament, which will be played June 15-30.
