A Shola Ameobi strike condemned Fabio’s QPR to yet another Premier League defeat and left boss Harry Redknapp fuming.

Ameobi came on for the disappointing Papiss Cisse and promptly notched his third goal of the season to give Newcastle the three points.

The QPR defence, Fabio included, was exploited numerous times by Cisse’s pace but the Senegal striker failed to make the most of the opportunities that came his way.

It looked to be heading for a draw but Ameobi popped up ten minutes from time to slot home past Rob Green in goal.

QPR were well worth a draw as they battled against a lacklustre Newcastle side devoid of ideas in attack.

Julio Cesar failed to make it into the squad for the game and will be hoping for a chance to usurp Green in goal in order to reclaim his place.

Fabio is on loan from parent side Manchester United where twin brother Rafael has secured a starting berth at right back.
