Corinthians have rejected reports of a bid from English giants Chelsea for their Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero.

Reports in Peru linked the striker to Chelsea in a £30m deal but Corinthians have dismissed such rumours as wide of the mark.

“Nothing has arrived. Brazil no longer seems to be the place for news, they now seem to come from Peru.” said director of football Roberto de Andrade. “Guerrero is in Germany on vacation. Proposals have not arrived from anyone.”

Andrade also took the time to pour cold water over any possible deal for AC Milan’s Alexandre Pato, and described any deal with Vasco’s Dede as ‘difficult’.

Guerrero attracted the interest of Chelsea after scoring the winning goal in the World Club Cup final against the English club.
