Fluminense are looking to move forward in negotiations for former Argentine star Dario Conca, after Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande indicated a willingness to negotiate over the player.

Conca, 29, would need a fee of approximately €7.5 million to buy out the remainder of his contract, but Evergrande have already shown a willingness to lower this value.

“Conca does not have a release clause. It has to be done with a calculation of values,” the player’s lawyer Marcos Motta commented.

“When an official proposal arrives, I can take it to them and start negotiation. One thing is sure—the contract cannot be rescinded.”

Fluminense, after previously having annoyed the Chinese side with their media comments regarding Conca, have since distanced themselves in order to avoid accusations of making an illegal approach to the player.

With Evergrande now thought to have secured Botafogo attacking midfielder Elkeson for a fee of €6.5 million, Fluminense will now look to speed up their chase of Conca with a view to a January move.
