Manchester United came from behind once again on Saturday to beat Queens Park Rangers 3-1 at Old Trafford, with new QPR boss Harry Redknapp looking on from the stands.
Redknapp, 65, who was sacked as Tottenham Hotspur manager in the summer despite finishing fourth in Premier League, was officially announced as the new boss at Loftus Road on Saturday morning after QPR chairman Tony Fernandes finally sacked Mark Hughes on Friday after a dismal start to the season.
And for 63 minutes Redknapp would have been encouraged by what he saw at Old Trafford. After a poor first half which ended with no goals, Rangers dominated the start of the second half and took the lead on 54 minutes when Kieron Dyer’s shot from a narrow angle was only parried by Anders Lindegaard into the path of Jamie Mackie who tapped the ball in.
However, as has happened many times this season, United quickly struck back. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson took off Ashley Young and Paul Scholes and introduced Anderson and Javier Hernandez and the game was turned around in just 8 minutes.
First, Jonny Evans converted the ball after Danny Welbeck headed Wayne Rooney’s corner into his path, and then 5 minutes later, from another Rooney corner, Darren Fletcher headed home past Júlio César.
And to complete the turnaround of the game in less than 10 minutes, Anderson and Hernandez combined together to set up the Mexican to make it 3-1.
