AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has admitted that the departures of key players such as Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahamovic may have played a part in their disappointing form.

Milan have struggled this season, and currently sit in 13th place in Serie A whilst PSG have flourished since the duo moved to Paris.

Berlusconi told Milan TV: “I have regrets, but there is a consideration of mathematics.

“We saved €130m from their wages and sale. In this economic climate, who would have declined this opportunity?”

Thiago Silva moved to PSG in a €42m deal alongside Ibrahamovic in the summer and the Qatari-backed French giants are sitting at the top of the table after 13 games.
