There were only two matches played on Saturday as Santos defeated Figueirense 2-0 thanks to goals from Argentinean midfielder Patrício Rodriguez and youngster Felipe Anderson.

The two goals came either side of the break as Santos climb the rankings into ninth place ahead of Flamengo.

Figureirense have been relegated from the Brasileirão as they ran out of games to claw back an eight point deficit.

In the other game, Vasco won 2-1 against Coritiba to move into sixth place ahead of Corinthians.

Goals from Romario and Nilton overturned a Lincoln goal early in the second half. Coritiba remain in 14th and will be safe from relegation should Sport Recife fail to win their game tonight.

The remaining games of this round will be played tonight as Copa Libertadores places remain up for grabs and the relegation battle continues.
