Fluminense forward Wellington Nem has gained a lot of admirers thanks to his performances for Figueirense and Fluminense, with a move to Europe being touted as the next step in the players career. 

However, Nem, 20, who was born in Rio de Janeiro, is delighted to be at Fluminense and told Lancenet that he was “living his dream” playing in the Brasileirão for Fluminense.

At the beginning of the year Nem, who can play anywhere is attack, was linked with a move to Europe with CSKA Moscow. However, he is happy to still be in Brazil.

He said: “I am very happy to have stayed and not left for Europe. Especially because I am close to winning the Premier League, that was what I wanted.”

Nem also praised the influence that captain and striking partner Fred has had on his career. 

“The importance of it to me is very big. He is a guy who gives me advice and sometimes gives me some hard words. It makes me want to score goals.”
