Corinthians midfielder Paulinho has become one of the most sought after players in world football over the past few months, with numerous reports linking him to a move to Europe with Arsenal, Inter Milan, Chelsea and Paris St-Germain all interested.

However, Paulinho, 24, only signed a new contract at the club in September that will keep him at the Copa Libertadores champions until 2015 and in an interview with ESPN Brazil, he spoke to reassure Timão fans that he is not going anywhere.

He said: “I want to play in the new stadium of Corinthians. There’s a lot of speculation. Many lies. When there was a proposal I spoke openly. I sat with my wife and looked at Inter’s proposal. I actually agreed, but all the directors of Corinthians did all they could to keep me.

“I myself was surprised. That was important. At certain times have to think about money, others have to forgo in favour of your career.”
