Fluminense goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri has played down clamours for a call up to Mano Manezes’ Seleção.
Cavalieri told reporters regarding calls for his selection: “I’m happy to be playing well, but it does not change anything because my responsibility with Fluminense is great and I have to keep working and contributing to the club.”
The keeper was also wary of his opposite number, Rogério Ceni, ahead of their match against São Paulo: “On the field we do not need to talk about his technical quality, the guy needs no comment.
“Besides being a very good keeper, we know his ability to hit a dead ball. So besides the forwards, we have one more threat to worry about.”
But the former Liverpool man admires the veteran keeper: “I had the opportunity to talk to him off the field, and he is an exemplary man. I think for our position he has contributed a lot to the evolution of goalkeepers in football.”
