Chelsea youngster Lucas Piazon believes his side are capable of avenging this weekend’s defeat to Manchester United in Wednesday’s Capital One Cup tie with the same opponents.

Piazon, 18, has been named in the club’s squad for the fixture, having also featured in the third-round clash with Wolves, and looks set to play some part in the game.

The Blues were downed 3-2 by their opponents on Sunday, in a match marred by two sendings-off and a controversial late winner for the Manchester outfit.

The former São Paulo player believes that if Chelsea can repeat their showing of the weekend, then they can avoid what would be a third consecutive defeat.

“I’m expecting a very hard match, but if we follow our first performance I am confident and think we can win,” Lucas told Chelsea TV.

“It’s a big responsibility for us, but the team is feeling good. We’re top of the Premier League and the players are confident we can make a great performance.”
