The statement follows the publication of an excerpt from Barcelona’s annual report in the journal, which confirms the club have made a €10 million payment in relation to a non-specified future deal worth €40 million.

This has tallies with the sum of money that both major Catalan sports media outlets, Mundo Deportivo and Sport, have insisted has been agreed for the future transfer of Neymar to the Camp Nou for the past twelve months.

The deal, though, has consistently been denied by both Santos and Neymar, although the Spanish club have chosen to stay quiet on the issue – a fact the Brazilian media attribute to the president’s desire to please the side’s socios.

The statement read: “Santos FC denies any possibility of selling Neymar to Barcelona or any other team. There are no negotiations underway and the club reaffirms that the forward has a contract until 2014 and will stay until its completion.”
