Dani Alves returned to training ahead of Barcelona’s clash with Rayo Vallecano on Saturday after a hamstring injury.

Alves, 29, took part in a closed training session yesterday at the club’s Joan Gamper facilities where players continued their recovery after Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Scottish champions Celtic.

According to Spanish publication Marca, Alves could be in line to regain his starting berth from fellow Brazilian Adriano who has been deputising in his absence.

However, while a return against Rayo Vallecano seems likely, coach Tito Vilanova could opt to ease the Brazilian in against Alavés on Tuesday.

The Seleção star injured his hamstring during Barcelona’s 2-2 draw with Real Madrid on October 7 and was subsequently ruled out of Brazil’s two friendlies against Iraq and Japan.

The fullback’s return will be a big boost to the team as they look to continue their fine form in La Liga where they lead the table on goal difference, ahead of Atlético Madrid in second place.
