Santos vice president Odílio Rodríguez has once again denied the club are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda.

The 32-year-old has been linked with the 2011 Copa Libertadores winners for some time and since the departure of playmaker Ganso, the rumours have once more appeared.

Malouda has been frozen out of the first-team picture at Stamford Bridge under Roberto Di Matteo, but Santos have already denied making a renewed bid for him, after previously showing an interest during the summer.

Rodrigues said: “There is no interest for Malouda, he is not in our plans and if the English press is giving details about it, it must be because some agent is telling that to them to increase Malouda’s value.

“But there is nothing from Santos.”

Recent rumours were fuelled by the fact Malouda visited the club some months ago, but Rodrigues says there was nothing to this.

“The circumstances were different, he was in Brazil and visited Santos of his own accord. There is nothing,” he added.

Malouda, like Seedorf before him, shares many links to Brazil through marriage and his South American upbringing and has previously spoken of a desire to play in the country before retirement.
