Lazio midfielder Hernanes scored a great individual effort during his side’s narrow 3-2 win over AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico this evening.

The 27-year-old Brazilian, who was linked with a move to AC Milan this summer, put his side in front with just 25 minutes gone.

Hernanes ran through the middle of the park, beat Daniele Bonera, and then struck a right-footed shot from just outside the Milan penalty area.

The ball deflected up off the defender and went beyond the reach of goalkeeper Marco Amelia, which set Lazio on their way.

Antonio Candreva and Miroslav Klose added goals to put Lazio firmly in the driving seat at 3-0 up, but goals from Nigel de Jong on the hour mark and a Stephan El Shaarawy strike 10 minutes later set up a grandstand finish.

However, Lazio held on to all three points, keeping them third in the Serie A table but now just one point behind second-placed Napoli.

Milan on the other hand are just two points above the relegation zone in 13th after a fifth defeat in eight league matches.

Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato made his return for Milan late on in the game, having missed all games so far this season with an abductor complaint.
