Deco is expected to return to the Fluminense line-up tonight for the crunch Brasileirão clash with Grêmio. The former Chelsea and Barcelona star missed the weekend victory against Ponte Preta through suspension, but is raring to go for tonight’s clash against Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s Grêmio.

Deco, 35, has been an influential player for Fluminense this season, highlighted by lancenet giving him an average rating of 6.5, just below keeper Diego Cavalieri and striker Fred, and his experience and assists have been integral to getting the team to the top of the league.

The player is clearly respected by his Fluminense teammates, with midfielder Jean telling lancenet: “Deco helps us in all aspects of the organization on the field through his experience. This is crucial, because that’s where the game is won.”

Deco himself took to Facebook to share his excitement for the upcoming fixture. He said: “I hope to be even more inspired on Wednesday, because the game is important and the opponent is strong … Another battle!”

Fluminense are 9 points clear at the top of the Brasileirão and a victory over 3rd place Grêmio would see them record a 6th straight victory, which would be a club record.
